Historic Downtown Bastrop hosts an art walk on the first Friday of each month. The event is a monthly showcase and collection of galleries, artists, restaurants, shops and small businesses in Downtown Bastrop.

The event features art, live music, dining shopping and lots of fun. This month’s event will take place on Friday, June 2 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. A variety of art including bronzes, sculptures, paintings, mosaics and photography are part of the art walk.

The First Friday Art Walk began in 2011 and now and has grown to include 15 locations including five galleries and 10 other venues.

There will be a special Memorial Day Rate on the first line and active duty and veterans will receive special discounts on the full zip line tour. The 10th annual Lone Star Crawfish Festival will take place on Saturday, May 20 at Lone Star Farm. Live music will be provided by 3 Legged Willie and there will be at $10 cover to attend the festival.

The 13th annual Smithville Fly-In will take place on Saturday, May 13th from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. The Fly-In has something for everyone including a candy drop at 11:15. The event also includes several lunch choices.

You definitely don’t want to miss the beauty contest. Planes will be judged in the categories of Most Interesting/Unusual, Best Antique Aircraft, Best Exterior Paint/Finish and Best Interior/Interior Finish.
