Haunted HouseThe scariest day of the year is almost here so there are lots of opportunities to spend a night out getting spooked and having fun. From October 28th-October 31st, downtown Smithville will be home to several activities for those looking for a good scare.

The haunted house will take place at 201 Main Street each evening beginning at 7:00 from October 28-31. Ghost tours will take place on the 29th, 30th and 31st at 7:00 p.m. The Tiger Tasting Tour will take place October 28th-31st beginning at 5:00 each evening. You will take a ride on the Ann Powell Express and stop at a variety of locations for food and drinks.

These events are put on by the Smithville Chamber of Commerce and the SISD Band Program.

Vacant HomeThere are many reasons you may wind up with a home sitting vacant for a while. You may have bought a new home and are still trying to sell your old home or be in between tenants in an investment property. Pumpkin Festival Pumpkin season is officially here and if you haven’t started celebrating fall, this weekend is your chance to get in the spirit with at the Pumpkin Festival at Elgin Christmas Tree Farm.

Come out Saturday or Sunday for a day at the farm including a hay bale maze, corn maze and crazy maze, duck races, animals, a train ride face painting and food.

This will be a great day at the farm for people of all ages. Bring cash for the food vendors. Admission is $7 for kids and $9 for adults. If you want to save a little money, sign up for the farm’s newsletter and get a free kids admission.

Chili Cook-OffNothing says fall better than a chili cook-off! Make sure to visit First United Methodist Church’s Chili Cook-Off and Fall Bazaar on Saturday, October 14.

The event begins at 4:30 with dinner and the silent auction. The live auction will begin at 6:15. The bazaar will include a variety of items that have been made or baked.

Tickets for the chili cook-off are $10 for adults and $5 for children.
