Smithville WingfestThe Smithville Wingfest and Chili Cook-A-Roo is back for its second year with lots more fun and wonderful food to enjoy. Taking place on Saturday, September 28 from 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. on Main Street in Smithville, tickets are just $15.

There will be three contests as part of the event – Wings Cookoff, Chili Cookoff and a Homebrewing contest. Live music will take place a the gazebo throughout the day. There will also be activities for the kids including a waterslide, bounce house and more. Music will be performed by Briana Adams, The Watts Brothers Band and Bucksnort Boogie Boys.

Down Home County FairThe 16th annual Down Home Ranch Gala will take place Saturday evening with a Down Home County Fair. The event will take place at the Bastrop Convention and Exhibit Center beginning at 5:00.

The event will begin with happy hour including drinks and appetizers for everyone to enjoy. While you munch and sip, participate in classic fair games and make sure you bid on items in the silent auction. The Blake Torrey Band will entertain guests throughout the event.

Bastrop EventsSaturday, September 14 is full of opportunities to get outside and enjoy the beauty of Bastrop in many different ways. Here are some fun activities to enjoy.

Billig Ranch is usually closed to the public but on Saturday you can visit the 667-acre ranch for several different activities between 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Enjoy a birding hike, feral hog management walk and a prairie walk.

The 2019 USCA Aluminum Nationals will take place in Bastrop Saturday and Sunday. The races will start under the bridge at FM 969 and finish at Downtown Bastrop’s Fisherman’s Park. The course will travel 14 miles down the Colorado River. Different groups compete on Saturday and Sunday and there will be a youth option as well.
