Four Must Haves for Your Kitchen

KitchenFor many people, the kitchen is the hub of the household. If that is the case for you, take the time to make sure your Bastrop kitchen is adequately updated for maximized efficiency, comfort and style. With so many options for kitchens available, it can be really hard to  decide what you want? While it probably won’t be the only determining factor, it’s always a good idea to think about the future resale value of the options you choose as well so it doesn’t detract from your home whenever you are ready to sell. Here are four kitchen features you don’t want to skip.

1. An island. There are so many ways to incorporate an island into your kitchen and they come in all shapes and sizes. Whether it adds just counter space and storage, bar seating, a cooktop, prep sink or all of that, an island creates a nice space that is open and easy to work at without cabinets above it like most other parts of the kitchen. This makes it an ideal solution for prep space and you are sure to love it.

2. Corner Storage. No matter how efficiently your kitchen is designed, there are corners and there will always be things that get pushed to the back meaning you forget about them completely or choose not to use them often because it is too hard to get them out from the back. Add a lazy susan in your corner cabinets to help with this. This will allow your storage to rotate back into the cabinet space and keep things you use easily accessible.

3. More than one kind of lighting. Gone are the days of one light in the kitchen. With multiple ways to use your space, you need a variety of lighting to complement the space. You will enjoy the benefit of a light over the sink, additional lighting over the island, bright lighting for any prep spaces and even under the cabinet lights to add ambience and function.

4. A pot filler. If you cook daily, you will fall in love with this feature instantly. Tired of filling your heavy cookware with water at the sink and lugging it to the stove, add a pot filler beside the cooktop and use it to fill all of your pots with water with just a flip of the handle. This isn’t as big an undertaking as you think as water is probably only a few feet away from where you want this to be installed.

All of these features will add instant appeal to your kitchen and you will love the flexibility they provide when you are preparing meals for your family. If you ever want to discuss remodel ideas and how they will impact the value of your home or need a recommendation of a good contractor to install your new island, give me a call.
