Is Your Home Summer Ready?

GrillingThe days are getting longer and warming up so surely that means summer is just around the corner. As it gets closer, think about anything you need to do to get your Bastrop home summer ready. Like a new bathing suit for you or a summer grooming for your dog, your house needs some prep too. Where should you start?

If your gutters haven’t been cleaned out lately, start with that. Late spring and summer will definitely bring some summer storms with accompanying downpours. Make sure your gutters are ready to work so the rain can be directed away from your home quickly. If you want to make the most of the rain, consider adding rain barrels to collect the rain for watering or other household tasks.

Your air condition will be running nonstop before you know it. Go ahead and change your filter now and purchase backups for the summer. The last thing you want during the hottest day of the summer is to add extra stress to your air conditioning unit from a dirty filter.

Summer fun comes in many forms but hopefully you will have some patio nights with dinner fresh off the grill. If your patio or deck needs pressure washing, now is a great time to do that before it gets too hot. While you are pressure washing, does your house or driveway need to be done? Do it all at once if it does.

Speaking of grills, does your grill need a tune-up? Maybe it just needs a deep clean. Find out how to do that here. Make sure it is ready for the season. If you use a gas grill with a propane tank and you don’t have an extra one on hand, purchase an extra one to keep so you can always have a backup. This will ensure you don’t run out of propane before the cheeseburgers have finished cooking.

What else do you need to do? Spruce up your landscaping with fresh mulch and bright flowers and you will be ready for summer. Now that your house is ready and looking great, plan your first summer barbecue and invite your friends to join you and you can sit back and enjoy your beautiful home.  If you are thinking about selling your home, it will also look great when prospective buyers come to look.
