The Town of Smithville will host two fun events on Saturday, November 9. Beginning at 10:00 in the morning, the annual Airing of the Quilts will take place throughout Smithville. Both modern and traditional quilts will be displayed outside of shops and homes for all to see. There will be quilting events at two Smithville churches as well. First United Methodist Church will host an indoor quilt airing along with a fall festival that will include children’s activities, a craft fair and a chili and ribs cookoff. The Smithville Stitcher’s Quilt Guild will host a quilty show at the Smithville Church of Christ. This will include a free gift for attendees, door prizes, vendors, a bed turning and quilts on display in the sanctuary. The Airing of the Quilts and all associated events are free.
After you have seen the prettiest quilts you could imagine, take a stroll through some historic homes for the Smithville Garden Club’s Annual Tour of Homes. Tickets for the Tour of Homes are $10 and include four historic homes and one historic church. All proceeds from the event benefit the Smithville Garden Club. The home tour will take place from noon-4:00 p.m.
